“I have the great honor of leading local hunger relief agency Waste Not. We specialize in collecting excess prepared and perishable food and delivering it to 60 nonprofits that feed those in need. During this pandemic, we have experienced generosity like never before! When events started getting cancelled, we received some wonderful food donations from catering companies and event venues we had never worked with in the past. These were places such as spring training facilities, corporate cafeterias, sports complexes and even airlines. When restaurants started closing, we got another surge of wonderful food donations and the amount of food we were collecting went up by almost 70%. We have been contacted by several restaurant owners who not only want to donate food during this crisis but want to establish long term partnerships with Waste Not once business is back to “normal”. The generosity of our community is astounding and being in the position to witness it first-hand fills me with immense gratitude.”
