In Laura’s words: “I’m grateful that COVID-19 forced me to shift my perspective about what matters most. Just after my twin sister, Sarah, and I celebrated our birthday in early March, she was going to drive home to Utah. But I didn’t want to be alone during the quarantine, so she stayed with me in Arizona. Each weekend for two months we got to explore beautiful desert landscapes in full bloom. Visiting local state parks, preserves, and nature trails was something we’d always said we wanted to do, but rarely made time for. It literally took a global pandemic that shut down the world economy to force me and my sister into the profoundly healing experience of spending quality time with each other in nature. At one point, we both looked at each other and said, “WHY didn’t we do this sooner?””
