In Machelle’s words: “First, I want to honor everyone who has worry in this present moment. This is a crisis times two. We have a health crisis and an economic crisis. So many in our global communities are just putting one foot in front of the other just to get by.

My starting place in this pandemic was from a home office and while my business has suffered the same blows as many small businesses, I’m fortunate that my husband is still employed. Today is Day 62 of sheltering-in-place.

There was a sermon I heard some time ago about God being the great GPS in our lives. We make plans of where we want to go but we also make many wrong turns. When this happens in our cars, our GPS doesn’t yell at us for making mistakes. It simply says, “Recalculating.”

Our heavenly GPS does not admonish or correct us but rather redirects and begins again with where we are on the map and gently says, “Make a U-turn at the next light.” The pandemic has provided me invaluable time to recalculate and think about some desperately needed U-turns in my life.
