FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this for individuals or families?

An individual, couple, or family can sit for one portrait. You are welcome to bring a pet, hold a favorite photo of your loved ones, or use props.

How many people can participate in one portrait?

The maximum number of people who can be in one portrait is 4. If you would like me to take more than one portrait, please make an additional donation of $10 for each additional portrait you would like taken.

I've never used Zoom before. Is there anything special I need to do?

No. At the time of your session, just click on the link that was sent to you in the confirmation email and it will take you to our session.

How should I set up my laptop computer?

Getting your computer situated may take 5-15 minutes, so please allow enough time to prepare and follow these steps prior to joining the Zoom call.

  • A laptop with a working webcam is required.
  • Laptop should be sitting on a table.
  • Laptop should be facing away from a large light source, such an an unobstructed window or an open door (so you will be facing that light source when you are sitting at the table looking at the laptop). Here is a really(!) rough drawing of what this looks like 🙂
  • The laptop will likely need to be propped up (perhaps with books) so that the camera/webcam hole is at eye level.
  • The laptop screen should be approx. 3-3.5 feet away from your face.
  • The screen should also be angled toward you slightly, at about 85 degrees.

What should I wear?

Please wear a solid black top with any sleeve length. Something with interest in the neck or sleeves would be great, but is not necessary. Bottoms and shoes will not be seen. Do your hair and makeup at a level you are comfortable with. Wear any accessories that you would like to.

What should I use as a background for my photo?

Please have a neutral solid background, which could be a plain wall or a sheet hung on a wall. Don’t make this part too complicated. I can make it work with whatever background you have. The most important part is to be facing a large natural light source.

Is there anything else I should consider for the photo?

If possible, please sit at a chair that doesn’t have a high back (where the chair back could be seen because it is higher than your shoulders).

Why do you want to share my story?

Our news is inundated with sadness and negativity. I would like to add as much positivity into the world as I can.

How long does my story need to be?

50 words minimum, 100 words maximum. Minimal editing will be applied.

When do you need my story by?

The sooner you send in your story, the sooner your portrait will be posted on social media!

Will you tag me in your post on social media?

Absolutely!

Will I get the portrait you take? Will I be able to choose the final?

You will absolutely receive your portrait! A low resolution file, suitable for sharing on social media, will be sent to you within 2 weeks of your session. Due to the volume of the project, the photographer will make the final portrait selection.

If I made a donation for more than 1 portrait to be taken, will I get 1 of each of those?

Yes!

Are these your typical high resolution brand or family portraits?

Nope! Images will be low resolution, will have wavy lines from the screens, and will have minimal retouching and post processing. These images are not meant to be used professionally. These are just a fun way to take part in a unique project during this time.

Can I purchase more images, in addition to the portraits I get as part of this project?

At the conclusion of this project, you will have the opportunity to purchase additional portraits for $10 each.
